But if you didn’t recognize yourself in any of the symptoms given above, do not fret. It may turn out that even if you have hyperglycemia, you may not be diabetic.

If you have any signs of high blood sugar, and you want to reduce them, you can use a food list based on the glycemic index.

GI Food list

If you didn’t know what GI or glycemic index is, it is a type of scale. On this scale, carbs are classified based on the level at which they raise one’s blood glucose levels aka their glycemic responses.

The range on this scale is from 0 to 100, and the higher the food is on the list, the more it brings one’s blood sugars to spike. But the lower the food goes on the scale, the healthier it is and also safer to eat.

The best-avoided range of high glycemic foods is from 70 and anything that is above this number. Common examples of this can be the rice cakes, white bread, popcorn, corn flakes, glazed donuts and baked potatoes.

There are foods which belong to the moderate glycemic group. They are good to eat, and their number ranges from 55 to 69. An example of these foods is the brown rice, oatmeal, honey, mac and cheese, pita bread and white rice.

The best group of all is the ones which rank lowest on the scale and are the ones which a person should consume most. Their number range is from 0 to 54, and there are plenty of such foods. An example of these foods is walnuts, cherries, cashews, hummus, yellow onions, eggs, broccoli, grapefruit, butter beans, oranges, apples, kidney beans, spaghetti, tomato juice, bananas, carrots, green grapes, peas, pineapple juice, turkey sausages and many more!

If you consume more of these foods, your blood sugar levels will be reduced in no time.
